QAVS Presentation and BBQ

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service was formally presented by the Queen’s local representative, the Lord Lieutenant of Moray,  Lt Col  Grenville Johnston OBE OStJ TD CA at a celebratory BBQ held in Victoria House on the 2nd November.

The Award is all about the volunteers so we were very pleased to see so many coming along and being a part of the presentation ceremony. We were also very pleased to see so many supporters, including Richard Lochhead MSP, several Councillors, TsiMoray, NHS and other local charities.

The photos below tell the story …

James Gibb Donation

Each year James Gibb generously make a donation to 6 charities across Scotland. This year they choose us, Moray HandyPerson Services, as one of those charities. As with all donations, we are very grateful for the support we receive from companies and individuals so that we can continue to deliver the valued and necessary services to vulnerable people across Moray. Thank you.

A Lovely Day Out!

Along with our Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, Ed and Malcolm were invited to Buckingham Palace for a Garden Party with Her Majesty the Queen. It was a beautiful sunny day and the sandwiches really do have their crust cut off. The Award is expected to be formally presented later this year.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2018

I am very pleased to tell you that today it was officially announced that Moray HandyPerson Services has been awarded, The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2018.

This very prestigious award is the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary groups and is not given away lightly. It is with enormous thanks to the work of all the staff and volunteers over the last 21 years who have all contributed to making the Handyperson Service the organisation it is today and which has been recognised at the highest level with the granting of this Award.

Please Support Us on Sunday 18th March

MHPS would like to introduce a wheelchair and mobility aids hire service and has applied for a Money for Moray grant to help us set up this new service.

The success of the grant depends on members of the community voting for the project as there are more bids than money available. Anybody aged 14+ can vote but voting has to be done in person.

Presentations from all the groups will take place in Grant Hall, Rothes on Sunday 18th March. Registration is at 1pm and voters will then hear the bids and have the opportunity for questions before voting later in the afternoon. Tea and sandwiches will be served.

Please come along with friends and family to support us and vote. Thank you.
